clippers draft?

Actually that word just gave me bad association, since the Clippers handed the Cavs Kyrie Irving on a silver platter, but I digress…

My roommate and I became Clippers courtside ticket holders for the back 1/3 of this season.  Great experience, but for the entire season things were going to be more pricey.  So we got another investor and moved back a few rows.  The split, we’re assuming is, we each pick 10 games (out of a possible 41), and the last 11 go into a pool that we can sell or access.

Mostly I’m excited about the upcoming draft (assuming the season doesn’t get canceled/shortened).  I need to do some homework, maybe look at last year’s resale values, but some early thoughts:

  • Miami is the clear #1.  Both for entertainment value and resale value.
  • #2-3 will be Lakers.  Easiest to resell, but since there’s two of them they’re a tier below Miami.
  • 4-6 is Chicago, Boston, and New York in some order.  Don’t see much of a difference between these, so picking 1 is really ideal (snake draft, so you get the #1 and #6 picks).
  • After that, nothing that special in the East so it comes down to various Western conference teams that you’ll see twice, like Dallas and Oklahoma City.
  • Exciting players (Washington with John Wall, Golden State with Curry and Ellis) are worth more than slightly better teams (Atlanta, Utah)
  • Sorry norcal friends, but I won’t draft Sacramento
  • Why is Mike Brown the Lakers coach????
